Ottawa Redblacks get first win of the season
Plus, the weekend updates on soccer and baseball

Finally a win: It was a miserable day at McMahon Stadium, with driving rain and a reported wind chill of -1 at game time. But the Ottawa Redblacks weathered the storm and got their first win of the season, beating the Calgary Stampeders 20-12.
The sparse crowd was a fraction of the announced attendance of 16,584.
What happened: The Redblacks defence stopped the Stamps twice inside their own 10-yard line in the first half. Ottawa forced four Calgary turnovers and did not turn the ball over the entire game.
Dustin Crum got the start at quarterback in place of Dru Brown, who was healing from a hip injury. Crum completed nine of 22 passes for 111 yards in brutal conditions.
Next game: The Redblacks face the 0-3 Toronto Argonauts at TD Place Sunday night and currently sit at second in the East with a 1-2 record.
Scoreless draw for Atletico
Netter luck next time: Atletico Ottawa had a number of second-half scoring chances but came home with a 0-0 draw with York United at York Lions Stadium.
Both teams earned a point, leaving Ottawa in first place in the Canadian Premier League with seven wins, one tie and four losses for 28 points. They sit four points ahead of the Halifax Wanderers.
Next game: Atletico travels to Calgary next Saturday to face the Cavalry.
Rapid FC wins at home
A rapid streak: Ottawa’s pro women’s soccer team earned their fourth win of the season at TD Place Saturday.
Ottawa Rapid FC improved their Northern Super League record to 4-3-2 with a 3-1 win over the Calgary Wild.
BlackJacks win two in GTA
A repeat win: On Saturday, Isaiah Moore and Javonte Smart both scored 23 points as the Ottawa BlackJacks earned a 97-78 Canadian Elite Basketball League win over the Scarborough Shooting Stars.
The Blackjacks held a 55-44 halftime lead, and then led 79-57 after three quarters.
Tyrell Tate added 15 points and Zane Waterman had 13. Moore led Ottawa with 11 rebounds while Smart had eight. Sunday, the BlackJacks beat the Brampton Honey Badgers 89-76 in Brampton.
Titans snap losing streak
A loss: The Ottawa Titans baseball team ended their four-game Frontier League losing streak with a pair of wins over the New York Boulders.
Friday night, the Titans won 11-8. Then on Sunday evening, the Boulders avoided the sweep with a 7-2 win.
