What interprovincial issues are at play during the federal election?

A new interprovincial bridge and better transit options are priorities for the Mayors of both Ottawa and Gatineau.

As federal party leaders outline their visions for Canada’s future, addressing everything from housing to healthcare, the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau are ensuring their regional priorities aren’t overlooked.

Ahead of the upcoming election, Mayors Mark Sutcliffe and Maude Marquis-Bissonnette have issued a joint request to federal leaders, calling for “concrete solutions” to regional challenges, including improved transit connectivity and the construction of a new interprovincial bridge.

“We need a strong indication during this campaign, and we need immediate action after the election to address the challenges faced by our region,” Sutcliffe said during a joint press conference on Mar. 31.
